Way back in 1908 Walter Owen Briggs founded the Briggs Manufacturing Company the largest producer of automobile car bodies. There success was very impressive and it wasn't long before Briggs was busy buying the Detroit Tigers baseball team. In 1945 his team won the World Series and until 1961 the Detroit stadium had his name. It still stands today.

But as more of the major car companies began making their own car bodies Briggs had less and less work for his employees so by the late 1930s he was expanding into the steel plumbing industry in an attempt to keep his staff working.

He went on to purchase the Abingdon Sanitary Manufacturing in 1946 and Case Manufacturing in 1963 expanding his capabilities into the plumbing business. In fact Case was the first develop of a one piece toilet and it was also the first manufacturer to produce more than one color. This put Briggs ahead of the competition.

In 1973 Briggs built the largest porcelain and steel plumbing plant in the world and today they continue to expand. Here is a company that has been doing business for almost a 100 years and in that time they've built a reputation for quality products that are affordable....
